Does anyone have any listings or info on who buys old barns?

By Owen Tomlin at 09/08/07 17:50

I am currently a retired carpenter. I make turkey calls and barn wood frames from old barn wood. I also acquire old barns and resell the beautiful lumber for various projects. I am interested in getting new leads for buyers of my excess barn wood. I also have a complete very old chestnut barn for sale.

Owen,

I have just recently dismantled a barn in the town of Westville, Oklahoma. The structure was approximately 30'x30'. Inscribed on one of the floor planks in the loft was the date August 17, 1910. I am interested in selling all or some of the lumber. Please contact me if you are interested.

Sincerely,

Jeff Collyge

My father has an old barn he has torn down, and we are looking for a list of companies that buy old barn wood, and pricing lists, we have no idea what a fair price to sell it for is. We have been searching the internet, but never seem to find anywhere that tells us what they would give us for the lumber, only what they charge to sell their finished projects. If anyone can help, we would greatly appreciate it.

I just took down an old barn to ressurect on my own property. I would like to do this as a business, but could use some advice regarding cataloging and blueprinting the structure. Does any one know of a resource that could help. I would like to offer my services to anyone in central VT as well. My favorite part about old barns is that they have been here much longer that all of us and with a little of our care they will be here long after we are gone. mrjahayes@hotmail.com

Have an 1800's barn in upstate New York. Bad roof, needs to go. Want to have it taken down to the flooring, site left clean. several of the beams appear hand hewn, siding has been painted brown several times, paint weathered away 50% or more. Guessing at a minimum of 20 x 35 feet about 20 feet high to the interior roof peak, on a stone foundation built into a slope, foundation divided into three rooms, would like to retain the foundation and the barn flooring. My husband and I have an old barn that we would like to have removed (down to the foundation). The structure is a combination of oak and pine. We're located in Southeastern Michigan. Our email is tolikna@aol.com and we will provide pictures if someone is possibly interested. We're not looking to make a huge amount of money but would like to receive a fair price. Again our email is tolikna@aol.com.

If i tear down my barn myself how do I go about selling the wood. Do I sell it to companies? If so what companies in TN would buy the wood?
Our company has a barn in Abilene, TX that we would like removed, with lumber and some tin that would go to the buyer. If anyone does this work in the area (or knows of anyone that does), please let me know!

thank you,
