Campgrounds in Colorado.com Interview

By Interviewer at 05/28/09 13:14

Name of your website?

Campgrounds in Colorado.com

Your name?

gregg

Your Location (city, etc)

Ahwatukee Arizona

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Campgrounds in Colorado.com is a comprehensive guide to campgrounds and camping in Colorado. Information on National Parks, National Monuments, National Forests, State Parks, R.V.Parks, hiking, fishing, scenic highways and more.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

While searching for information in regards to campgrounds, I could never really find all the info I wanted in one place, so I decided to do my own research and launch a few sites.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

Campgrounds in Colorado is my first site. It is just launching now and is a work in progress. I have two more sites coming in the near future. Campgrounds in Utah.com and Campgrounds in Wyoming.com

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Well, it was pretty easy. My sites are about campgrounds and camping so....Campgrounds in Colorado.com

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

I think the amount of information one can acquire from my site. We cover a broad range and go into depth on each subject. My goal was to answer any and all questions one might have about campgrounds in Colorado along with other activities that one might get involved with while camping. Hiking, fishing, scenic drives.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

For now, keep it and work at making it the best site out there. If I can make a little pocket change in the process that would be nice.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Well I have invested a lot of time into research and building the site but It is something I enjoy so it's not really work. The site is brand new so hopefully the public will like it and use it.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

Not sure. I like what I have done so far. I'll get back to you on that one.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

That's a problem I would love to have. Hopefully I will find out later.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

None really. So far so good.

What has been your biggest challenge?

The research. Finding all the information that I wanted. Traveling to many of the destinations.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Can't answer this one yet.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

Compared to running other businesses, it is quite easy.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

I just published it and I am still working on getting much more info on it. I will stay with it, give it a chance to succeed. I don't expect it to happen overnight.

What is your website address?
