Your name?
Ryan
Your Location (city, etc)

Please give us a short summary of your website?
The site is about cooking while camping. It has a range of products that would be used to prepare meals and feed people whil spending time outside.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I was looking for a way to get into the retail business in an area of interest to me. Starting a website allows me to get into an area of business I am interested in (outdoor activities) without much startup cost.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
This is it so July 2009.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
By looking around at similar sites and seeing what is offered... then by searching for available domain names that are relevant.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
We are offering very specific products and insight as opposed to trying to be all things to all people.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
The goal is to keep it and earn an income as well as learning about how to market and run an online business.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Only time will tell.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would add better pictures and descriptions for my products.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
I think so yes and if not then I will hire people to help.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Just trying to set up merchant account to collect payments... it's a slow process.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Dealing with supplies and getting a wholesaler to work with a new company.
Have you had much success promoting your website?
Not yet it is still a work in progress.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
The promotion is quite time consuming but I find it quite interesting and slightly addicting.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
The site has been up for only about a week now. I think it could take a year or more of promoting and tweaking the site before I see really big gains.
What's the most exciting part of having you site up and running?
Having people come and see what I have created, people I don't even know. They are passing a judgement, I kind that scary and exciting.
