New Zealand Deerstalkers' Association approves their government's move to buy the St. James Pastoral Lease. It is the largest private lease in the country stretching at about 88,000 Ha, with iconic mountain and valley landscape in North Canterbury and will be a public outdoor recreation park.
Alec Mclver - president of NZDA said that the area will be suitable for back country recreation and has a high landscape and scenic values. The area will also be great for recreational hunting and deerstalking, things that can't be done on their present leased state.
